Future Development

Serendipity Nature Sanctuary is designed to grow incrementally and intentionally, building on existing infrastructure while preserving ecological integrity, flexibility, and financial prudence. Development will occur in phases, allowing programs and revenue to expand without overextending capital or operational capacity.

⸻

Retreat & Accommodation Expansion

Future accommodation will focus on small-scale, low-impact structures integrated into the landscape.

   •   Development of permit-free geodesic nature cabins, sized according to allowable thresholds

   •   Cabins situated primarily in the back meadow and forest areas, offering privacy and immersion in nature

   •   Designed to support retreat guests, facilitators, and small groups

These additions expand retreat capacity while maintaining a quiet, dispersed feel across the land.

⸻

Agricultural & Land Systems

The rear portion of the property is well suited for expanded food production and regenerative land use.

Planned developments include:

   •   Perennial food forest systems

   •   Expanded organic market gardens

   •   High-value specialty crops (e.g., garlic, cut flowers, medicinal plants, and other regionally appropriate crops)

   •   Continued soil building and water stewardship

A new irrigation pond is planned toward the back of the property, positioned behind fencing to support agriculture while maintaining privacy.

⸻

Livestock Integration

Livestock will be introduced once appropriate fencing and on-site stewardship are established.

Planned systems include:

   •   Laying hens located near existing buildings

   •   Meat poultry, pigs, and hair sheep in newly fenced back-of-property areas

   •   A livestock guardian animal (such as a llama) to support predator protection

Livestock will support food production, land management, and educational programming.

⸻

Multi-Purpose Large Structure

In addition to small cabins, one new 36’ diameter multi-purpose building is anticipated at the rear of the property.

   •   Designed primarily as a large workshop and community gathering space

   •   Temporarily dedicated to medical cannabis drying and curing during a short post-harvest period (typically several weeks in early fall), if licensing is approved

   •   Used the remainder of the year for retreats, workshops, and larger group events

This approach ensures year-round usefulness and capital efficiency.

⸻

Medical Cannabis Infrastructure (Planned)

If approved, medical cannabis cultivation will occur in a secured agricultural zone at the back of the property.

   •   Cultivation areas fully separated from retreat and residential spaces

   •   Processing and curing confined to the multi-purpose structure during harvest season only

   •   Infrastructure designed for dual use, supporting other high-value crops prior to licensing

⸻

Development Philosophy

All future development prioritizes:

   •   ecological fit

   •   simplicity and adaptability

   •   phased investment

   •   long-term resilience over rapid expansion

Serendipity’s future growth is guided by responsiveness rather than rigidity, allowing the Sanctuary to evolve in alignment with land, community, and opportunity.

Serendipity Nature Sanctuary is a living project rooted in land, relationship, and possibility. It brings together existing infrastructure, practical experience, and a clear vision for community, resilience, and meaningful connection.
